A uterine sound is a slender, flexible gynecological instrument used to measure the depth of the uterine cavity and determine the direction of the cervical canal prior to procedures such as IUD insertion, dilation and curettage (D&C), or endometrial biopsy. This helps prevent perforation of the uterus during these procedures. We offer Uterine Sounds in different types including the Sims Uterine Sound, which is malleable and often marked in centimeters; and the Hegar Uterine Sound, which is also graduated and may have a slightly different curve.
